We will phone Dave Piccini, Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks to demand that he deny Nestle´/Blue Triton a permit to take water for bottling, and phase out all permits to bottle water in Ontario.
We will also phone Greg Rickford, Minister of Indigenous Affairs of Ontario to demand that the Aberfoyle site where Nestle´/Blue Triton extracts and bottles water be given to Six Nations as the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Council demands.
The climate crisis makes more uncertain the availability of drinking water and we must ensure enough is left in the aquifers for future generations. Extracting water for bottling is a frivolous use from which only private corporations’ profit.
More than 90% of residents of Six Nations do not have access to clean drinking water. Giving Six Nation stewardship of the Aberfoyle site will provide access to clean drinking water until a permanent solution can be found.
