Join the Say No To Nestlé Rally with Wellington Water Watchers and Save Our Water
Wellington Water Watchers and Save Our Water invite you to join them in a rally and march to mark the one year anniversary of the moratorium on applications for permit to take water for bottling in Ontario. The rally will begin at noon in St. George’s Square in Guelph followed by a march to the constituency office of MPP Liz Sandal’s, 173 Woolwich Street, Guelph.
Bring signs with messages such as “Say No To Nestlé”; “Save Our Water” ; “Water for Life, Not Profit!” or your own personal message.
Speakers from Elora, Hillsburgh and Guelph will say it is time to Say No To Nestlé and to phase out permits to bottle water in Ontario.
- The uncertainty caused by climate poses a risk to the long term sustainability of local groundwater.
- A moratorium is not enough to protect our water.
- Now is the time for Kathleen Wynne to announce a policy to phase out permits to bottle water in Ontario.
The rally will feature a performance “Wynne or Lose” by the “Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Aquifers”. Three characters - Snidely Bigwater, Little Miss Middlebrook, and “Premier Kathleen Wynne” – will perform a 5 minute skit that shows with humour and wit the moral choice Kathleen Wynne faces in protecting local groundwater.
After the performance of Wynne or Lose, Wellington Water Watchers and Save Our Water will lead a march to Liz Sandals office (173 Woolwich Street, (Guelph ) at 12:30 . The marchers will present MPP Liz Sandals will with hundreds of post cards which endorse the Water for Life, Not Program of Wellington Water Watchers.
