Residents living in the hamlet at Jones Baseline and Hwy. 7 in Guelph Eramosa Township invite you to view the site of a proposed refrigeration manufacturing plant in their neighbourhood.
The proposed site is literally between houses on Jones Baseline south of Hwy 7. The proposed plant poses a threat to drinking water caused by effluent from the facility septic system to water drawn from the shallow aquifer.
In addition to transport truck traffic becoming a daily hazard to local children and residents, the proposed facility will tear apart the fabric of the community. We need farms not fridges in Guelph Eramosa!!
If approved this manufacturing site will destroy almost 30 acres of farmland. An additional 60 acres of farmland could be at risk from further expansions if this development goes ahead. The Ontario Federation of Agriculture, reports only five per cent of Ontario’s landscape is suited to agricultural use to grow food for human consumption. The refrigeration manufacturing facility belongs on a brownfield site in an urban area – not farmland in Guelph Eramosa.
All of our backyards are connected. Protecting farmland protects our future.
Come see the site for yourself, and meet the residents who will be affected by this proposal. Learn about the potential negative impacts on the community and how you can help residents stop the proposed manufacturing facility.
Show your solidarity and enjoy the refreshments. This is a family friendly event!
Together we can win and ensure we have Farms Not Fridges!
