Ice River Sustainable Solutions wants another 10 years of water extraction. We want to end water profiteering for good.
Ice River Sustainable Solutions, through its subsidiary White Wolf Property Management Inc., has applied to renew two Permits to Take Water (PTTWs) for bottled water operations at the former Nestlé and BlueTriton sites in Erin and Puslinch, Ontario.
Just under a year before these renewal applications, the permits at these sites were transferred from BlueTriton to Ice River without public notice, an opportunity for community input or consultation with Indigenous communities.
Water is essential to all life. It should not be treated as a commodity for private profit, especially when communities continue to face growing water insecurity and barriers to safe drinking water.
What is at stake?
Together, these permits would authorize more than 2 million litres of groundwater extraction per day for another 10 years.
- Erin: Permit No. 7383-DLVR8W (ERO 026-0894), allowing up to 1,113,000 litres of groundwater extraction per day.
- Puslinch: Permit No. 4657-DLVP7F (ERO 026-0893), allowing up to 986,400 litres of groundwater extraction per day.
On August 28, 2026, the Ontario government opened a 30-day public comment period on Ice River’s proposed permit renewals. Water Watchers and community members mobilized to call on the province to reject the applications. More than 1,900 comments were submitted during the consultation period, reflecting widespread concern about the proposed renewals.
The public consultation period through the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has now closed, but the fight to protect our shared water is far from over.
The fight against bottled-water extraction in Wellington County is part of a much larger movement to protect water as a shared public trust. We believe Ontario needs to move away from a system that allows private companies to extract, package and profit from shared water, and toward one that prioritizes the needs of communities, ecosystems and future generations.
