Big thanks to our friends at Bela Farm who have generously donated their newly renovated barn for us to host this event. Fun thing is.... from this property, one can look across the road and see the Nestlé's pumping tower at their Hillsburgh well. The perfect back-drop!
Many thanks to Relative Harmony and Judy Greenhill for making the music and providing the calling for the foot-stomping Contra Dance experience.
And warm thanks to the Phil and friends at Goodlot Farmstead Brewing Co. and Val and Brent and friends at Heartwood Farm and Cidery for helping to stock our cash bar with local artisanal brews at this event.
Let's all raise our glasses in a toast to celebrate local water and local water artisans - and to KEEPIN' WATER IN THE SHED!!!!
For those who might be new to Contra music, meet our band:
Relative Harmony and Judy Greenhill comprise fiddler Marilena Mohan accompanied by keyboardist Rick Avery, with wife Judy Greenhill, who is currently accepted as one of the finest dance callers in Ontario. They are based in Guelph, Ontario. They have been performing for dances (and concerts) across North America since Y2K.
As a trio they offer dance experiences from beginner to advanced; Contra, English and Barn dances for groups from 20 to over 200. The music is an exciting mix of Celtic jigs, reels, polkas and marches from North America and the British Isles traditions.
