Event 4
‘Boil Alert’ Documentary Screening
~ In Person Event in Toronto/Tkaronto ~
NEW DATE: July 14th @ 7:00 PM
. . .
Join Layla Staats and Water Watchers for an evening of learning and action for water justice at Patagonia Toronto on Sunday, July 14th. Through time together in conversation, music, and a special screening of the new documentary “Boil Alert”, we’ll explore the systemic issues creating water inequity, as well as the role of the environmental movement in supporting inclusive water justice and Indigenous sovereignty in so-called Canada.
‘Boil Alert’ follows activist Layla Staats as she explores the faces and personal stories behind the struggle of First Nations reserves to receive a basic human right: drinkable water. The film also explores the intersections of drinking water access with resource extraction, colonialism, and Indigenous sovereignty.
This event will also be a fundraiser for Wet’suwet’en and Neskantaga First Nations who are on the frontlines of both water protection movements and water access crises
